AGM Attendance and voting

Many British apartment owners either don't attend their building AGM (perhaps because of a language barrier), or because they are not convinced that it's important. However in a collective it is important to have a voice. Matters discussed will directly affect every owner in that building, such as expenditure on refurbishing either inside or outside parts of the bulding, having a sattelite dish, parking places, cleaning, managing agents and so on.

It is also not well understood, that once an owner has made out the 'Pouvoir' or voting slip, the person holding that slip is entitled to vote however they like, regardless of the wishes of that owner. Indeed it's not unheard of for the holder to vote against the direct wishes of the owner, even if the 'Pouvoir' is given to the managing agents. The 'Pouvoirs' are distributed among those present at the start of the meeting, much like dealing a pack of cards, and British interests are often not served at all in these meetings which are naturally heavily French biased.

Once an item has been voted on by the co-proprietaires, in some cases (such as sattelite dishes), that decision will supercede French national law.

A new service from Easi-apartments, starting in 2010 will be attendance at AGMs in Les 2 Alpes on behalf of clients, verifying the wishes of the particular owner with regard to voting and reporting on the salient points of the meeting (in English). We will vote exactly as you wish on each point.

Many of these meetings go on for hours, and thus our fees for attending will be charged at an hourly rate of €50 per hour. The fee will be charged on the time taken for the AGM itself, and will include interpretation of the Agenda in advance, attendance, voting and reporting of the meeting afterwards.
